Mail Call!

Lovely Lovely Mail. I am always happy when the PostLady brings something anything besides a bill but on a day when two packages arrive, what could be more fun?  I knew what was in both packages and none of it had anything to do with knitting but I thought I would share it anyway. There's my WIP basket in the background though for good measure. I'll get to that later.

First up a belated Momma's Day gift from my DH in the envelope. A few weeks ago I put some of my Revoltees on Etsy and while I was browsing around I came across this beautiful jewlery. Turns out my DH ordered one of Abigail's Pearl Solitaire rings for me!
medium_ring.2.JPG
It is so simple and classic. Only, it's too big. I rarely wear jewlery and never wear rings on my pointer finger it just feels weird to me. I was intending to wear it on my ring finger so it looks like I will have to wait a wee bit longer until it is sized  :-( Oh well. I do love it though, very much.

Next up, my Amazon box! A few months ago I started reading the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon. After the first few pages of the first book I was totally hooked. They are SO much fun to read. I am a really sucker for historical ficton and who doesn't love a good romance? Gotta love the Scottish Manly Men! I finished the third book two nights ago and was frantically awaiting this book to arrive today. Can't wait to start it tonight! My DH is going to the movies with a friend and I don't know if I will take the time to knit or snuggle into bed with the story? Decisions Decisions.

Speaking of knitting I realize I haven't been sharing much lately about my WIP's. So here they are in all their modest splendor. No feats of technical savy or complicated design here folks just simple, useful gifts-to-be. First up my very first (small gauge) sock. You might remember a while back I knit these socks for my little guy to get a feel for sock knitting using size 7 DP's and some worsted weight yarn. This is a great pattern I found over at Spun Magazine for some 3x1 ribbed socks. The yarn was hand dyed by JessaLu and has been a complete pleasure to work with. The second sock is almost at the toe decrease. And...I LOVE knitting socks! I crossed the threshold people. I never knew what everyone was going on and on about until now.

Next up, a modular baby sweater ala Lady Zimmerman due to warm the newest little one in my circle of friends as well as use up the leftover skein from my Easy V sweater. It doesn't look like much now but I know it wil be super cute when it is done. Just wait and see.

Now, don't get me wrong I have a few more WIP's but they are dangerously close to the edge of becoming UFO's so I am going to zip through these guys and see what happens next. Ok! I am off to read or knit or both. Toodles.

Comments

Can I just say, I Luuuuuurve the Outlander series. I'm a huge fan of historical fiction and was hugely dismayed when I began read the books and found that my local Borders stocks them in the - romance - section. I'm sorry, but I felt a little bit dirty.

Congrats on the lovely small gauge socks. I love sock knitting with a passion, and I saw how pretty the yarn was when Jess dyed it so I'm thrilled you turned it into socks. Good job!

The color of that sock rocks. Jess did a great dye job. I can't wait to see that baby sweater finished....

I was a bit remiss in my previous comment.

That ring is gorgeous. How thoughtful and romantic to get a ring from your DH. He sounds so sweet.

Jess did a lovely job with the dye job! Lovely colorway and socks.

How sweet of your DH. That is a classicly beautiful ring.

wOO-Hoo! The socks look awesome!
Abi- you made it into my dreams 2 nights ago! You were my ex's new girlfriend! Aaah!! Pretty weird dream, eh?

I meant to get back to you for days&days and I've kind of been trying not to get sucked into the blog world for a little while because I've been procrastinating work big time!

Take care, sweetie!

love the sock and can't wait to see the finished sweater.

I've been looking at the Diana G. series. Guess I should order from Amazon.

Pretty pearl ring. I like wearing rings on my index finger - thumb too. Strange but you get used to it.

Lovely 3x1 rib socks. And a Jessalu special? WOW! You rate!

The baby sweater will be adorable.

hello, i found your blog thru glampyre knits... i had a couple of questions about your "boogie vest" turned cabled sweater from knitty in your gallery. what yarn did you use? did you change colors after the cast on row at the neckline? it is exquisite and looks so comfortable! thanks...

Hi Lindsey,

Blogspirit doesn't allow me to reply to comments via email (real bummer) and there isn't a link to your blog so I am hoping by chance you read these comments again.

Thanks for your compliments about the Boogie Vest! It is a Knitty pattern for a vest (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring04/PATTboogie.html)
but then I picked up stitches along the armhole to knit the 3/4 sleeves. The contrast around the neck is just a single crochet edge and I just switched to a contrast color to do the ribbing on the sleeve. I used Bulky Lopi for the whole project (3 balls). Don't hesitate to email me with any other questions you have. I'd be glad to help :-)

I love your socks. What a great job you are doing on this second pair. Many many more you are wished. Have you dared to look at Trekking yarns?
Thanks for the Outlander tip, my daughter may love them.
