Can't think of a title
One thing about using Blogspirit is that you are required to title your post. Today, I just can't think of one so instead of spending time trying to come up with something I am just throwing in the proverbial towel and moving on.
By the time my DH gets home from work the winter sky has already taken over and made it impossible for me to get good FO pictures of the Shibori scarf I made or my completed sweater. In the meantime, I started Glampyre's Bulky Cabled Cardigan that I had been wanting to make for some time now. This was the best I could do in a room without any natural light and a toddler tugging at my pants :-)

I started the sweater last night while watching Medium (which by the way gave me some serious nightmares) and it has all the features that I love about Stefanie's patterns...they knit up intuitively, quickly, and the process is fun. I don't usually have to take too many "mirror shots" but I realized today that we only have two pretty small mirrors in our house. It made me think back to my years growing up in a home (on Long Island) where it seemed a prerequisite to have gigantic mirrors in every room, furniture made from mirrors, and of course a TV in every room which when it was off could function as a mirror in a pinch :-) After I left Long Island I lived alone in the woods for two years without any modern luxuries or mirrors at all and I found that I reclaimed a great deal of my time when I wasn't capable of focusing on what I looked like. This has absolutely nothing to do with knitting this sweater but it is just something that came to my mind. How many mirrors do you have in your house and how much time do you spend checking in with yourself? With only these two shabby mirrors I still do it quite often. Maybe you can take the girl out of Long Island but you can't take the Long Island out of the girl :-)

Only two mirrors. Sometimes I end up being surprised by what I see when i do take a moment to look (sometimes good, sometimes not so much).
Your sweater looks like a fun knit... what's the yarn?

The cardi looks cute!
Did you really live two years in the woods? I've got to hear more about that. I think I would have to be stoned in order to live without modern conveniences. Tell us more!

Yeah, I want to hear more about the woods, too!!
And I really like the color you chose for the cardi, looks great!

Oh I know for sure that you still have the 'take no crap' 'tude from LI ;o)
Four mirrors - one buried at the back of the antique bar thingy in my living room and one reeeeaaaalllyy old antique one you can barely see anything in as well as the bathroom mirror and one full-length one that's....somewhere....

I can't wait to see the completed sweater! The progress looks great. The cables stand out nicely in that yarn.

Its interesting and great that you took that time in the woods; its even better that you can reflect (no pun intended) in this manner about vanity and checkin' ourselves out. Currently, we have 4 mirrors in our house, but the only time I look is in the morning while I'm brushing my teeth.
I really like how the sweater is turning out. I thought it was a shrug upon my first look. Hmmm?
Knit on!

That cardigan looks great so far! Can't wait to see pictures of our other projects.
I'm a fall/winter gal, but the one thing I realize I miss is all that daylight for taking knitting progress photos!!

The cardigan looks great. Love that color.
As far as the mirror question, I have 5 mirrors total, 2 are in bathrooms though, 1 in my bedroom and the other 2 in the living room adn entry hall, they are pretty tall though so no checking out for me. I don't really spend that much time looking at myself. I do tend to check the overall appearance once a day and thats about it. I've never been a real mirror checker outer though!

Four mirrors. Three in bathroom type rooms, and one long one in the bedroom. I rarely check myself out except after washing my face to make sure all is well (no left over soap, etc.).

I am constantly amazed at how great the "self-photo's" come out. I can't take a good shot of myself. Maybe that's a function of being me!
Sweater is Looooking Goooood!
Where the heck, on LI, are you from? Smithtown, for me!
