Sweet Simplicity

Hey, remember this? Jessalu showed the blog world a side of me I didn't even know I had until tons of free yarn were shoved in my face and all my loyal ties were severed so I could be the quickest one to the pile. It was a shameful day for me, a glorious victory for my stash and as it turns out for my son. There were 10 skeins of a heathered grey Lite Lopi in the bag just begging to be knit into a cozy, simple, sweatshirt style sweater. And here it is.

A top down raglan knit in one piece from my all time favorite basics book One Piece Knits that Fit that I stumbled upon in a used book store eons ago before I even knew how to knit. The knitting gods must have been happy because the morning after I finished weaving in the ends we woke up to an unseasonably warm day for New England and my son could wear the sweater around on its own. Much to my surprise about 5 people commented on the sweater as we were walking around town but I know it had to do with the uber cute combination of a little guy and an earthy hand knit. Simplicity should never be overlooked or underrated.

There are still about 7 skeins left of the Lopi, just enough perhaps for an Hourglass sweater from Last Minute Knitted Gifts for my selfish? We'll see. On the needles now are Christmas projects galore and with time going by the way it is...I better get back to 'em.

Wow wee, free yarn! Lots of it too! Your boy is the cutest thing and that sweater looks great on him :)

The sweater is cute, but not as cute as the little guy in it. Nice job on the knit, and kid.

I love how the grey wool sets off those rosy cheeks. :)

What a cutie pie....and the sweater looks good too! Of course, I'm getting the guilt bug, I've yet to knit anything substantial for either one of my children!

The sweater looks very good on him! I agree that sometimes simplicity can be very nice. And it will match anything! Very cute.

What a great combination of boy model and sweater. No wonder people were commenting. I love his shy flirting with the camera.

So cute. So adorable.

What was I talking about....oh yeah...the sweater AND the occupant!

Great job. And I'm looking forward to seeing that "Hourglass", too!
